Abu El Matamir Center, On the eastern side, Sadat City. On the western side, the Hammam Center in Matrouh Governorate. On the south side, the Sixth of October District, It contains 3 units. It is the Red Village, and about 100,000 people live in it. and the village of Bani Salama, And the blasphemy of Dawad.[2]

Wadi El-Natrun name

The reason for naming Wadi al-Natrun is due to the lakes of the Natron salt that are spread in it. Where these lakes are interspersed with eyes of sulfur minerals, fresh water, Whoever visits the valley and enters its alleys, the time goes back to the 17th century of the entire history of the monastery’s life, which was the witness and documenter of its history. Thus, the valley became one of the ancient historical and tourist places.[1]

Wadi El-Natrun is considered one of the largest centers in the Egyptian Republic; It covers an area of about 1,000 square kilometres. Thus, it constitutes one third of the area of Beheira Governorate. Wadi al-Natrun is famous for being one of the places where the governorate’s revenues come from. These revenues are represented by quarries, salinas, and revenues for the legalization of agriculture and farmers, These customs exceed a total of 130 million pounds throughout the year. Despite this, Wadi El-Natrun’s budget exceeds one million and 600 thousand pounds annually.[2]

Wadi al-Natrun contains a number of monuments, Perhaps the most important of them are the ancient monasteries since antiquity. which are considered attractions for the world’s Christians, There are 4 monasteries. They are as follows: [3]

  • Monastery of Anba Bishoy.
  • Syriac Monastery.
  • Baramos Monastery.
  • Abu Makar Monastery.
  • note: The design of the monasteries is rather simple, The walls of the monasteries are devoid of any ornamentation. Thus, unlike some archaeological buildings that are concerned with decoration, It should be noted that its shape indicates the ascetic life that the monks lived in those places.[1]
