يهدف مشروع نيوم إلى تطوير عدد من القطاعات الأقتصادية الرئيسية في المستقبل ، بالإضافة إلى إنشاء صناعات تحد من التسرب الاقتصادي في المملكة و المنطقة بشكل عام. و يمكن تحقيق ذلك من خلال إنشاء صناديق التنمية التي ستدعم هذه القطاعات ، و منها مستقبل الطاقة و المياه الذي يجب أن تكون مدعومًا بالكامل بالطاقة المتجددة ، وتخزين الطاقة المستقبلي ، وحلول النقل و كذلك البحث و التطوير و التصنيع.
